Nicolas Maillart represents the ninth generation of the small winery located in Ecueil, in the center of the Montagne de Reims. A village classified 1er Cru like Villers-Allerand, where most of the vineyards from which the grapes used for the production of the various cuvées come are located, with the exception of Bouzy's Pinot Noir Grand Cru.

Nicolas Maillart has worked hard to introduce small but great innovations in a traditional system that has 3 centuries of history, since in 2003 - at just 26 years old - he decided to make wine on his own from the 8.5 hectares of property and to no longer provide the grapes to the local cooperative. Today he manages 16 hectares in the same 3 villages, three very different terroirs in terms of soil and exposure, but which are the source of the ingredients to create complexity in the cuvées.
