In 1851, Castel Sallegg and the surrounding vineyards were purchased by Archduke Rainer, viceroy of Lombardy-Venetia, and passed to the Counts of Kuenburg by succession through Archduke Heinrich and Enrico Prince di Campofranco. The awareness of history, tradition and responsibility is deeply rooted in the family of the Counts of Kuenburg.

The castle, the historic shipyards, the 1000-year-old cellar: in Castel Sallegg everything speaks of noble families and winemaking tradition, history and the link with Lake Caldaro. The Castel Sallegg cellar includes the three historic wineries Leisenhof, Preyhof and Seehof, each with a different terroir.
